Apple has launched a repair program for all iPad Air 3 models that has been hit by an error that could cause the screen to suddenly blacken and permanently become blank. Apple has determined that, in some cases, a limited number of screens on iPad Air 3 devices may become permanently blank. Brief flashes or flickers may occur before the screen goes dark.

Apple said the affected devices were manufactured between March 2019 and October 2019, and that all iPads that experience the problem will be repaired free of charge by Apple Stores. Customers of the blank iPad Air 3 should find an Apple authorized service provider, make an appointment at an Apple retail location, or contact Apple Support to arrange a mailing service through the Apple Repair Center. The new repair plan covers the affected iPad Air 3, which has been in use for two years after the first zero sale.
