In this week’s Apple News, we’ve found a number of anecdotal RAM variants that could appear in the flagship iPhone 12 series this fall. This may be the first time an iPhone with 6GB of RAM has been available. But not all iPhone 12 models get so much. Elsewhere, we’ve heard rumors about the 5G-enabled iPad Pro, Apple’s confusion about its trade-in program, the wrong direction of Mac shipments, and the U.S. government’s call for Apple to break its encryption. Apple’s main news stories over the past week: In terms of 6GB of RAM, two-quarters of the time is good: we expect four devices in the iPhone 12’s main line-up. Two of the iPhones may have 6GB of RAM, the first of all iPhones, according to new rumors from MacRumors. However, the two smaller iPhones may still be stuck on 4GB of RAM. The 5G iPad Pro may be in the process of developing: Apple may be planning to release a 5G-enabled iPad Pro, according to the popular magazine DigiTimes. This will include mmWave support. This is likely to make the iPad Pro very expensive. The U.S. government wants Apple to break its encryption again: another recent mass shooting has shocked the world again, this time in Pensacola, Florida. U.S. Attorney General William Barr asked Apple to unlock the iPhone used in the mass shooting, but Apple refused. President Donald Trump is not happy about that. PC shipments have grown over the past quarter, but Mac shipments have not: Shipments across the PC market are on the rise, the first increase in nearly a decade, according to Gartner. However, Apple’s Mac-based PC shipments did not increase. In fact, they have fallen and Apple has lost some market share. Apple has bought a young start-up focused on artificial intelligence: this week, it completed an alleged $200m deal to buy a start-up called Xnor.ai. The company specializes in in-vehicle artificial intelligence systems. Apple may push the team to develop Siri-related products.
